The Southern Plains are less hospitable than its northern counterpart. It is closer to the sea, so the ground here is harder and less nutrient, therefore plant life cannot grow as well. Small grasses litter the area, and the air is slightly salty. Small tributaries leak from the north and into the sea, bringing in hardly enough water to host a thriving ecosystem. When herds move here, the times are rough indeed.
